Houston Africa Day is a family-friendly, community event hosted by several partnering African organizations, including the African Public Affairs Committee and Culturally Yours. This premier event will attract over 1,000 attendees to the Alief Community Center Park, where visitors will experience a unique blend of art, culture, music, and dance.

Our theme, “Experience the Heartbeat of Africa in Houston!”, reflects our mission to celebrate Africa and connect Houstonians to the people, arts, history, and cultures of Africa. Spending an engaging, educational, and festive day highlighting African heritage and fostering community engagement.

Internationally, Africa Day, originally celebrated on May 25, commemorates the historic day in 1963, when African nations came together to form the Organisation of African Unity, the precursor to the African Union (AU). It is a day to celebrate the many successes and progress made throughout the continent while recognising each nation's challenges.
